High Beams and Higher Dreams

Inspiration

i spent the weekend recharging in a quiet country barn and i’m pleased to report that i feel fresher than ever, so a website update was inevitable. I used the time away to indulge in coloured tea, finish writing my first ‘bliind drawing’ story and hinge a neon heart to my fringe.

In the mean time, we have added two new images this evening, there will be two more tomorrow and a further two on friday. I’ve been busy drawing but just found it strange using a computer (i’m going backwards in the world of technology so much so i’m looking at kaleidoscope rather than a tv). I will also be uploading some raw scans straight from my sketch book this weekend… just for the shake of it.

look both ways.

There will be more…

There will be more… but not for a little while;

Kev has a problem, he cant find his fingers. He’s currently busy retracing his steps, he is pretty sure he had them with him in the supermarket on Saturday, but it all gets a bit vague after that.

Joni F and the Jazzy Fun Time

Joni F and the Jazzy Fun Time
Following the whole incident with the speaker dog we felt a real need to earn a few positive karma points. After not very much looking we were approached with a unique opportunity; To sponsor Joni F and the Jazzy Fun Time on their cozy little 5000km jawnt from Goa in India to Pokhara in Nepal in a ‘motorised rickshaw’.

We are pleased to say not only did they survive, but they finished (in last place), only one week behind the winners! More importantly they took an extensive set of photos of erotic/porno statues dating from 600 AD for our enjoyment, there goes the karam…

Alex

Ps. They would still be quite happy to accept new sponsorship for their chosen charity Frank Water Projects (despite having already done it).

Axes Make Prizes

Alex and I often participate in a friendly game of ‘spot the Vespa’ when walking the streets of London…. Which is a joy, but you must know it’s not the other thing we like to take part in. Recently we entered a Thunder Chunky competition to creatively say what we would do if we ‘OWNED A BLACK AXE’ via the powers of Twitter, in homage to the wonderful work of Derek Deal & The Black Axe Boys.

I wanted to trim my plants with it, and Alex wanted to attack our Accountant which we knew would not be suffice to enter such a comp. So… we gave the opportunity to Suzey Muesli and bless her little heart, she went and won us some super ‘Arty’ prizes in the form of tee’s & posters. That’s right… WE WON!

Our entry is below (and inspired by an iconic 80’s movie)…

“i would take my blackaxe to the Cobra Kai Dojo, and swing it at the sensei for crushing Daniel’s Mojo.”

We had to put our dog down

We like to do projects for people. It’s often a lot of fun and a way of keeping on people’s good sides (after all it’s not what you know but who you know in this town). Therefore when we were invited by the glorious Bentheillustrator to design a Speakerdog for his most recent campaign… Alex and I high fived and discussed tactics. Ideas weren’t a problem (neither was colouring them in) but we had both become so familiar with copy and paste… we struggled with the concept of cut and fold. The results were disastrous… And the paper cuts I encountered made me look like Edward Scissorhands. Hopefully we’ll be invited to participate for the next project and by that time we would have staffed a small fingered army and will be confident enough to join in.

In the mean time… please do visit Ben’s wonderful site and enjoy his endearing papertoy concept.

Words of Web Wisdom

Back in the day… when Alex and I were motivated to do website updates, lovely people would say lovely things about us.

I thought I’d share these tender words with you all in a vain hope that my ego would grow to the size of a small pumpkin. Thank you to all of the people who helped promote our little site, you are all very beautifully kind. Now Alex… go fetch the measuring tape.

“According to TC fave Kev Speck, he is a lousy drawer. But there is nothing lousy about his beautiful new site he has just launched. With minimal marks and a shy colour palette, Kev has produced some seriously memorable drawings with a dash of class and sprinkling of British humour.”

“I’m really loving the brand new illustration site by Kev Speck. He manages to capture the essence of the message with so few lines and colours it’s pretty magical.”

Liife Updates

No changes to the web siite this week.

I made the most the sunshine this weekend (don’t worry I’m sure it won’t last) and have a severe case of red head, for reference read head is #FF3D64.

Kev was last seen on Friday entering IKEA. I’ve heard rumours he is on a quest to find a new wardrobe, I think he’s trying to find the one that comes with Narnia included (it’s the only one big enough to fit all his fancy dress outfits in). So long as the mirror section isn’t near the exit he should be out soon.

That’s it for now…

Siite Updates

A few minor improvements to the web siite today;

We are now a bit more compatible with compatibility mode in internet explorer which is nice! And we’ve also included a new favourite’s icon and Apple touch icon, for when you add us to your bookmarks/favourites menu ; )

That’s all for now…

wwwe’re here!

it’s taken a few days longer than we hoped (23 to be precise) but the site is now live as you can see.

We think you’ll agree it’s a clear progression from when Kev used to promote his drawings by attaching them to wayward leaves in the autumn breeze for exposure.

With Alex now on (key)board there are some very interesting developments taking place, some cutting edge… other’s cutting shapes so please do keep us bookmarked.

With the powers of glue… we hope to add sections to the site such as an ‘Ask Suzey’ Problem Page and an online ‘bric-a-brac’ shop full of our old worn out felt tip pens and limited edition love felt hand crafted charms.

We hope to use this news section to promote others as well as ourselves, so if you have anything of any interest which you would like to bring to our audience… please do share it with us, but remember… keep it light hearted.

So spread the word and tell as many two lunged people as possible that there’s a little place online dedicated to making people smile.

Thank you for your continued support and any initial feedback will be very welcome. xx

Suzey Tweets…

We crave “chocolate coated biscuits of affection” like a malnutritioned kitten …

Which is why we chose the adored and destructive Miss Suzey Muesli to be our beloved spokesperson over at wonderful world of Twit. Please feel free to follow us there and keep up to date on all that’s ‘not happening’ here on the Seventh Floor.
